This scratchboard illustration was to run in one of a series of three different ads for ASU Group, a Midwestern insurance company. The headline for the ad would read, "Forty-six Years On The Job And We're Still Adjusting."

The illustration was done in three pieces. The sails, mast, rope, and sailor were rendered by hand, as a traditional scratchboard illustration. The waves were scanned from a "Dover" book (Dover publishes books of copy right free engravings). The sky was a line conversion of a photograph, made with Photoshop 5.5 using an Andromeda Screen filter. The three pieces were then assembled and tweaked in Photoshop 5.5.
